Let's be clear: we all get stuck in ruts. I know I do. Not only do I get stuck, I make myself a little home and call it "done" and think this is as good as it's going to get, and I guess I'm alright with that.

How do you know you have a great customer?  They not only love what you do, but push you to create even better pieces.  They push you out of that rut and show you that you HAVEN'T found your end all, just a short pause.

I love that about custom orders!

I love that people ask, "You know, this is really cool, but my style is more (this),... is that something you could do?"

*cracks knuckles* "Challenge Accepted!"

Case in point!

A "repeat offender" of mine loves my wire wrapped pieces and has bought several for herself and as gifts, mostly freshwater pearl and gemstone.  This time she had her eyes on some broken china necklaces but was wondering about creating earrings, which I hadn't attempted yet.

SO EXCITED!

So, I asked her to pick out the plates she liked from ones I had available to break and she chose these lovelies:

Blue Leyman Ware, Caprice Plate, 22kt Gold Filigree

Cunningham & Pickett, Spring Violet, 22kt Gold Filigree Plate

She loves the blend of geometric shapes and fantastical design and so settled on wanting triangles and squares of the plates made...

I can't wait to make some more broken china earrings for the shop!

I'm so excited to see where the next custom order takes me! :D
